The Kogi State Government says there has been stronger coordination between the Federal Government and state authorities on security matters under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Kogi State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, made the claim in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), saying the administration reviewed the country’s security challenges and introduced what he described as a clearer national security structure.
According to Omodara, Tinubu inherited an existing federal security system but brought security experts into the process and directed a comprehensive review of emerging threats across the country.
He said the resulting structure has encouraged federal and sub-national security agencies to work more closely together.
Omodara also said the administration of Kogi Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has aligned with the federal security arrangement, which he said has supported security operations in the state.
The Kogi government’s position comes amid continuing national discussions about how effectively federal, state and local security agencies coordinate their responses to insecurity.
While the statement highlights the government’s assessment of the security architecture, the extent of its impact on security outcomes remains a subject for broader public and independent assessment.
