The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State has suspended one of its chieftains, Hon. Aliyu Muhammad Tukur Gantsa, for 12 months over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by Ahmad Garba, the party’s Polling Unit Chairman in Buji Local Government Area, on Monday, 19 October 2026.
According to the statement, the decision followed allegations of misconduct, breaches of party discipline and actions considered harmful to the unity and political interests of the ADC.
The party said its Ward Executive Committee approved the suspension on 5 October, while the Local Government Working Committee endorsed the decision on 16 October.
Gantsa was accused of engaging in public anti-party activities and openly supporting an aspirant who lost the party’s primary election.
The party maintained that such conduct undermined its officially nominated candidates and threatened its electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As part of the suspension, Gantsa has been barred from attending or participating in party meetings, rallies, caucuses and official gatherings at polling unit, ward, local government, state and national levels throughout the 12-month period.
He has also been prohibited from representing the party in political, legal, public or media engagements or exercising privileges associated with his membership or position.
The development comes amid ongoing political manoeuvres and internal challenges within parties as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
