PDP Threatens Disciplinary Action Against Wike Over Support for Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has signalled plans to take disciplinary action against members accused of working against the party’s interests, with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike emerging as a key figure in the dispute.

PDP chieftain Emmanuel Ogidi disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, where he accused Wike of supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) while still claiming membership of the opposition party.

Ogidi described the situation as internal sabotage, insisting that the PDP could no longer tolerate conduct capable of undermining its political interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He argued that Wike’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign contradicted the responsibilities expected of a prominent PDP member.

“You can’t serve two masters,” Ogidi said, accusing the minister of working for the APC while maintaining his association with the PDP.

The party chieftain warned that members found working against the party’s interests would face consequences, adding that the leadership would soon take a firmer position on the matter. However, he did not disclose the specific disciplinary measures being considered or when a formal decision would be announced. <Cite refs={[“turn331863news5″,”turn331863news8”]}/>

Ogidi also maintained that the PDP would no longer allow the demands of Wike’s camp to dominate its internal affairs, stressing that the party belonged to its members rather than any individual or faction.

The controversy follows Wike’s recent call on PDP members in the FCT to support Tinubu and APC candidates in the 2027 elections. The minister also pledged to provide campaign logistics for those willing to participate in the re-election effort. <Cite refs={[“turn331863news7”]}/>

Wike’s position has deepened divisions within the PDP, with a faction led by Tanimu Turaki rejecting any alliance with the APC and insisting that the opposition party should present an alternative to the ruling government. <Cite refs={[“turn331863search3″,”turn331863search10”]}/>

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the dispute raises fresh questions about party loyalty, internal discipline and the future of the PDP’s relationship with Wike.
