Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration over efforts to upgrade electricity transmission infrastructure in the state, expressing hope that the development will improve power supply to residents and businesses.
The project involves the ongoing development of the 330/132/33kV Katsina transmission substation, which is expected to strengthen the delivery of electricity to several parts of the state once completed and commissioned.

The substation is designed to improve bulk power transmission to Daura, Dutsinma, Kankara and Malumfashi, helping to strengthen the electricity network serving communities across Katsina.
The project includes the installation of power transformers and supporting infrastructure intended to increase transmission capacity and improve the reliability of electricity supply.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has previously said the facility would play an important role in addressing electricity transmission challenges in the state.
The Federal Government’s wider power infrastructure programme also includes transmission lines linking the Katsina substation to the national grid, although the benefits to consumers will depend on the completion and commissioning of the associated facilities.
Radda’s commendation comes amid efforts by federal and state authorities to improve electricity infrastructure, support commercial activity and reduce the challenges faced by households and businesses relying on an inconsistent power supply.
The project is expected to benefit residents and businesses across the affected areas when operational, particularly by improving the capacity of the network to transmit electricity.
