The Akure Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association has outlined plans to address infrastructure challenges affecting courts in the area and promote the adoption of electronic recording systems for court proceedings.
The branch said improving the working environment within the courts would be among its priorities as it seeks to strengthen the administration of justice and improve the experience of lawyers, judges and litigants.
It also plans to push for greater use of electronic recording technology in courtrooms. The initiative is expected to improve the accuracy and efficiency of documenting proceedings while reducing some of the challenges associated with manual recording.
The NBA branch emphasised the importance of collaboration with relevant judicial authorities and other stakeholders to achieve the proposed improvements.
According to the branch, better court infrastructure and modern technology are necessary for a more efficient justice system, particularly as the volume and complexity of cases continue to increase.
The association also expressed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote professional development among lawyers and strengthen the rule of law.
The proposed reforms form part of broader efforts by the Akure NBA to improve the administration of justice and ensure that court users have access to a more efficient and functional judicial system.
