The convoy of former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was reportedly stopped by protesters during a visit to Benue State.
The incident occurred along a road in the state as the Labour Party politician travelled through the area.
Videos from the scene showed protesters gathering on the road and preventing Obi’s convoy from proceeding for some time.
The reason for the protest was not immediately clear, although the incident comes amid heightened political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Labour Party, has remained active in national political discussions as political parties and aspirants begin preparations for the next election cycle.
Security personnel were reportedly present at the scene as efforts were made to manage the situation and allow traffic to resume.
Further details about the protesters, their demands and how the situation was eventually resolved were not immediately available.
