Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have hosted the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, at a state dinner in Entebbe.
The high-profile reception formed part of Pastor Adeboye’s ongoing apostolic visit to Uganda, bringing together religious and political leaders. The visit was announced by Redemption Television Ministry on Tuesday.
Adeboye officiates bishop consecration
One of the major events during the Nigerian cleric’s visit was the consecration of Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, daughter of President Museveni, as a bishop.
The historic service was officiated by Pastor Adeboye and took place at Covenant Nations Church in Luzira, Kampala.
The RCCG Office of the General Overseer celebrated the episcopal consecration and congratulated Pastor Rwabwogo on her new role.
Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo and her husband, Odrek Rwabwogo, had earlier received Pastor Adeboye and his wife upon their arrival in Uganda on August 19.
Meeting with international Christian leaders
During his apostolic visit, Pastor Adeboye also held a strategic fellowship with Bishop Dr LaDonna Osborn, Chief Executive Officer of Osborn Ministries International.
The meeting took place in Kampala as part of activities surrounding Adeboye’s visit and his engagements with Christian leaders in Uganda.
Strong religious ties
The visit highlights the growing connections between Christian leaders in Nigeria and Uganda and comes as the RCCG continues to maintain an international presence.
The state reception hosted by President Museveni also underscores the public significance of Pastor Adeboye’s visit and his participation in the consecration of Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo.
