The Katsina State Police Command has presented financial assistance totalling ₦28,012,584.70 to the families of 25 police officers who died while serving in the state.

The cheques were presented on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Katsina State Police Command Headquarters. The payment formed part of the welfare package of the Inspector-General of Police for families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Ali Umar Fage, expressed condolences to the beneficiaries and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased officers.

Fage described the fallen personnel as officers who served the country with dedication and paid the ultimate price in the course of their duties.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the financial support responsibly, particularly to address immediate family needs and support their future wellbeing.

The commissioner also commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for what he described as his commitment to the welfare of serving police officers and families of personnel who died in service.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alkasim Salisu expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General and the Katsina State Commissioner of Police for the financial assistance.

He assured the police authorities that the beneficiaries would use the funds responsibly and prayed for continued protection and guidance for officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force. 

The Katsina Police Command said it would continue to support serving personnel and the families of deceased officers as part of its broader welfare responsibilities.

The intervention provides financial assistance to the 25 affected families while also recognising the service and sacrifices of officers who died while carrying out their duties.
