Afrobeats star Rema has shut down speculation of a rift between him and veteran singer Davido, describing reports of tension between them as unfounded.
The “Calm Down” hitmaker addressed the rumours while speaking during a recent interview, where he also discussed the culture of comparisons and rivalry among Nigerian music stars.
Rema made it clear that there is no bad blood between him and Davido, whom he described as one of the industry’s senior figures.
According to the singer, fan bases often fuel unnecessary tension by comparing artistes and turning their individual successes into competitions.
“Davido and I have no issues; those are just rumours. I have so much respect for the OGs,” Rema said.
He explained that he had previously encouraged his supporters to stop comparing him with other artistes because such comparisons could create unnecessary conflicts.
However, Rema said he eventually stopped trying to control the conversations after noticing that other artistes did not always take similar steps with their own fans.
The singer maintained that rivalry between artistes is sometimes exaggerated online, with fans playing a major role in creating the impression that musicians who are actually on good terms are involved in disputes.
Rema’s latest comments come amid renewed online discussions about his relationship with Davido, offering a direct clarification from the singer that there is no feud between the two Afrobeats stars.
