Former Osun Central Senator Olusola Adeyeye has said only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola can resolve the differences between them.

Adeyeye spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he was asked whether anyone could successfully bring the two politicians together.

According to him, reconciliation would require both men to forgive each other, adding that he personally wished to see them settle their differences.

“I don’t know; only God knows. When things get to be like this, only the two of them can forgive each other,” Adeyeye said.

Adeyeye wants reconciliation

The former senator said he would welcome a rapprochement between Tinubu and Aregbesola, particularly because he believes it would benefit the All Progressives Congress and the President’s political campaign.

He said bringing political stakeholders together would be important for the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.

However, Adeyeye acknowledged that Aregbesola’s current affiliation with the African Democratic Congress could make reconciliation politically complicated.

He said it would be difficult for Aregbesola to abandon the opposition party, particularly given the expectations of his supporters.

Adeyeye also acknowledged Aregbesola’s popularity in Osun State, saying the former governor remains widely respected among his supporters.

He, however, argued that Aregbesola’s personal popularity should not automatically be interpreted as an ability to transfer that support to another politician.

“If Aregbesola is the candidate, it’s a different matter,” Adeyeye said, adding that the former governor remains a formidable political figure if he personally contests an election.

Adeyeye, who currently serves as the South-West Coordinator of the APC presidential campaign council, also expressed confidence in his party’s prospects in the South-West.

His comments come as political parties and prominent figures intensify preparations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with alliances and political realignments continuing across the country.
