Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the June 2026 election, Wole Oluyede, have joined forces to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The collaboration was unveiled at a mobilisation rally organised by the Oluyede Progressives Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda, a political group formed by Oluyede to build grassroots support for Tinubu across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas.
Oluyede, a prominent PDP figure, said the group would embark on a door-to-door campaign across communities and wards, with a target of securing 90 per cent of the votes in Ekiti for Tinubu.
He said members of the alliance had agreed to work with the PDP and other supporters to mobilise voters and remain committed to the President on election day.
Oluyede also appealed to Tinubu to sustain attention on Ekiti State, particularly through federal development projects and interventions.
Oyebanji, who received Oluyede’s decision to support Tinubu, described the development as evidence of political maturity, patriotism and commitment to the interests of Ekiti State.
The governor said political differences should not prevent politicians from working together for the development of the state.
He also referenced the peaceful conduct of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, noting that no life was lost to electoral violence.
Oyebanji further highlighted what he described as Tinubu’s support for Ekiti, saying the President’s continued backing was important to the state’s development.
The development marks a cross-party mobilisation effort in Ekiti ahead of the 2027 presidential election, bringing together members of the ruling APC and supporters drawn from the PDP.
