A Nigerian mobility company, ProTaxi, has commenced operations in Abuja with an electric vehicle fleet, as the Presidency welcomed the initiative and its potential to create new economic opportunities.

The home-grown e-hailing platform, an initiative of Promiseland Innovation, was officially launched in Abuja on Thursday, with the company unveiling plans to empower 1,000 drivers with electric vehicles.

The initiative is designed to provide income opportunities for drivers while offering commuters an alternative form of urban transportation powered by electric vehicles.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Promiseland Innovation, Ambassador Emmanuel Lawrence Oloche, said the project was driven by the organisation’s broader goal of using technology and innovation to create economic opportunities for ordinary Nigerians.

He explained that ProTaxi was conceived as more than an e-hailing service, with the initiative focused on creating sustainable livelihoods for drivers and their families.

The launch attracted government representatives, business leaders and other stakeholders who witnessed the unveiling of the electric-powered transport platform.

The company said the planned deployment of 1,000 electric vehicles would provide opportunities for drivers to participate in the platform while contributing to the adoption of cleaner transportation technology in Abuja.

The development also comes as interest in electric mobility continues to grow in Nigeria, particularly around reducing dependence on conventional fuel-powered transportation and exploring technology-driven alternatives.

With its Abuja rollout, ProTaxi joins the expanding conversation around the future of urban mobility, job creation and cleaner transportation in Nigeria.
