A Nigerian man has recounted an emotional experience in which he said he was left stranded in Canada after his wife and children travelled ahead of him and allegedly stopped communicating with him.
According to the man, he had resigned from his banking job after securing permanent residency for Canada. However, he remained in Nigeria temporarily because his employer reportedly needed to complete an audit of his position before he could leave the country.
He said his wife and children eventually travelled to Canada ahead of him, expecting that he would join them later.
However, the situation allegedly took an unexpected turn after his wife arrived in Canada.
The man claimed that she blocked him and did not provide him with the address where she and their children were staying.
He eventually travelled to Canada in November 2014, but said he was unable to locate his family after arriving at the airport.
Recounting the experience, he said he had been expecting to reunite with his wife and children but instead found himself stranded without knowing where they were staying.
“My wife and children left before me for Canada. I had to stay back in Nigeria because the bank needed to audit my position, so I couldn’t travel with them immediately.”
He added that the situation became particularly painful when, according to his account, his wife blocked him and withheld their address.
The man’s story has generated reactions online, with social media users discussing the difficulties that can arise when family members relocate separately and communication breaks down during the process.
