The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a six-man kidnapping syndicate after rescuing a man who was abducted in Port Harcourt.

According to the police, the victim, identified as Hassan, was kidnapped on September 6, 2026, around the Fidelity Bank area in Garrison, Port Harcourt.

He was reportedly taken to Igbugulu Waterside in Borikiri, where he was held captive for three days before his relatives paid ₦10.3 million in ransom to secure his release.

Following intelligence received by the police, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit launched an investigation that eventually led to the arrest of two suspected members of the syndicate.

The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Victor Ifeanyi, also known as “Big Boby”, and 36-year-old Aniekan Okon Michael, also known as “Duff Man”.

The police said preliminary investigations showed that the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping and revealed that the gang had six members who used a white minibus during the operation.

The Rivers State Police Command said efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the syndicate and bring them to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, also appealed to residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending criminal elements across the state.
