Nollywood actor Laide Olabanji has called on Nigerians to consider supporting Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the country needs a new direction.
Olabanji made the call in a post on Instagram, where he criticised Nigerians who, despite struggling with issues such as electricity and the rising cost of fuel, still want the current administration to return to power.
The actor argued that if a government fails to deliver for the people, Nigerians should be willing to consider an alternative administration capable of rebuilding the country.
He referenced past political administrations while making his argument, including the government of former President Shehu Shagari and the military administration led by General Muhammadu Buhari, with Olabanji highlighting the role of the late Tunde Idiagbon.
He maintained that Nigeria could still experience positive change if citizens were willing to give another political leadership an opportunity.
Olabanji subsequently urged Nigerians to support Peter Obi, saying the former Anambra State governor should be given an opportunity to lead the country and, in his words, “make Nigeria great again”.
His comments come as political activities and debates intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with public figures increasingly expressing their preferred candidates and political choices.
