A video showing a Nigerian police officer allegedly refusing to leave his office after retirement has sparked reactions on social media.
The footage, which has gone viral online, shows the retired officer reportedly remaining inside his former office despite having reached the end of his service.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of the officer and the exact location, were not immediately clear from the available reports.
The incident has generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians finding the situation amusing, while others have used it to highlight the emotional difficulty some officers may experience when leaving a career they have spent decades building.
Retirement from the Nigeria Police Force has also remained a subject of wider discussion, particularly amid ongoing debates over the welfare and pension arrangements for former officers.
In recent months, retired police personnel have raised concerns about their pensions and called for reforms to improve their welfare after leaving active service. The Police Retired Officers Forum has continued to engage government authorities over the issue.
The Nigeria Police Force has, however, maintained that the welfare of retired officers remains an important issue and that their experience and contributions continue to be valued.
The viral footage has meanwhile continued to attract comments from Nigerians, with many debating what could have prompted the retired officer to remain in his former workplace.
