A 35-year-old blogger, Ifeoma Nwafor, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after being arraigned over alleged cyberstalking of businesswoman and Eleganza Industrial City Managing Director, Folashade Okoya.

Nwafor was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and alleged cyberstalking. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

According to the police, Nwafor allegedly worked with other individuals who are still at large to publish what the prosecution described as offensive, false and malicious materials concerning Okoya on Instagram.

The police alleged that some of the publications were made through Instagram accounts including @cutie_juis and @truestorieswithifeomafa. They further accused Nwafor of publishing photographs and statements allegedly calculated to expose Okoya to ridicule, suspicion, gossip and scandal.

Following her plea, Nwafor’s lawyer, O.J. Aduwa, applied for bail, urging the court to release his client on liberal terms and assuring that she would be available throughout the trial.

The prosecution, represented by Stanley Nwafoaku of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Ikoyi, did not oppose the bail application.

Justice Deinde Dipeolu subsequently granted Nwafor bail in the sum of ₦3 million, with two sureties in like sum.

The court directed that the sureties must reside within its jurisdiction, with one required to be a blood relation of the defendant. They must also provide evidence of three years’ tax payments, their National Identification Numbers and photographs, as well as affidavits confirming compliance with the bail conditions.

However, because the bail conditions had not been fulfilled, the judge ordered that Nwafor remain at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the perfection of her bail.

The court also directed the defendant to swear an affidavit undertaking to make herself available for trial.

The police alleged that the offences occurred in June 2026 around the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos and said they contravened provisions of the Criminal Law and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.

Nwafor, a graduate of Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State, told the court that she was from Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State but was born in Lagos.

The case has been adjourned until November 8, 2026, for trial. The allegations against Nwafor have not been established in court, and she remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
