Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, has challenged opposition figures Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi to acknowledge any progress recorded in their private businesses under the Tinubu administration.

Bwala made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday night, while defending the President’s recent comments about prosperity in Nigeria.

The presidential aide argued that prosperity should not only be measured by changes in individual living standards, but also by developments such as infrastructure projects and access to government-supported programmes.

He cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), saying one million families had benefited through support that enabled their children to access higher education.

Bwala also pointed to infrastructure projects, arguing that communities receiving roads and other public infrastructure were experiencing what he described as prosperity.

Turning his attention to Peter Obi, Bwala referred to a commercial bank where the former Anambra State governor serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees, claiming that the institution recorded a profit under Tinubu.

He then challenged Obi, Atiku and Amaechi to publicly state whether their own private ventures had failed to make progress during the past two years.

“If they have private enterprises and they can be truthful before God, let them tell you that they have not made progress and profit in the last two years,” Bwala said.

Bwala’s comments came amid increasing political exchanges between the Tinubu administration and opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general election.

He also defended Tinubu’s statement that prosperity would begin in Nigeria from October 1, arguing that the President was not suggesting that Nigerians would suddenly begin experiencing prosperity on that particular date.

According to Bwala, several government interventions and infrastructure projects were already producing benefits before October 1.

His remarks come as opposition figures continue to criticise the administration over the cost of living and the effects of its economic reforms, while the Presidency maintains that the reforms are laying the foundation for longer-term economic improvement.
