A pioneer of Yoruba rap
Lord of Ajasa is widely regarded as one of the pioneers who helped take indigenous-language rap into Nigeria’s mainstream music scene.
His career became prominent in the early 2000s, with songs such as “Ma Yi Lo,” “Le Fenu So” and “Esha Lo Bade” becoming associated with the growth of Yoruba-language hip-hop.
His contribution to indigenous rap has also been linked to the wider movement that later produced artistes such as Dagrin, Olamide and Reminisce.
His latest milestone has consequently sparked renewed conversations among music fans about his contribution to the development of Nigerian hip-hop.
The rapper’s citizenship announcement also comes after years of frequent appearances and performances in the United States, where he has maintained a presence through various events and engagements.
Congratulations have continued to pour in as fans celebrate the veteran artiste on his new chapter.
