The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from his position, becoming the latest senior government aide to leave the administration.
Ogunwuyi’s resignation took effect on Monday, October 12, 2026, according to a letter he addressed to the governor.
In the letter, the former Chief of Staff expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the Oyo State Government and its people, describing his time in office as a fulfilling experience.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour,” he wrote, adding that he was proud to have contributed to the administration’s efforts to promote the state’s growth and development.
He also expressed confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State and reaffirmed his commitment to the state and Nigeria.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, had served as Makinde’s Chief of Staff since July 2021.
His departure comes amid a series of resignations by political appointees in the Makinde administration over the past two months.
However, the resignation letter did not disclose a specific reason for his decision to leave the position.
The development comes as political activities and alignments begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
