IBADAN — The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned his appointment, becoming the latest aide to leave the state government in recent months.
Ogunwuyi’s resignation was contained in a letter dated October 12, 2026, in which he stated that his decision took effect immediately.
In the letter addressed to Governor Makinde, the former lawmaker expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the government and people of Oyo State, describing his time in office as an honour and a fulfilling experience.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour,” Ogunwuyi stated, adding that he was proud to have contributed to the administration’s efforts to advance the growth and development of the state.
He also expressed confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State following his departure from office.
PRAISES MAKINDE’S ADMINISTRATION
In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi commended the team he worked with under the Makinde administration, saying he remained proud of their collective accomplishments.
He said his decision to leave office was accompanied by gratitude for the opportunity to serve and confidence in the state’s future.
The former chief of staff concluded the letter by reaffirming his loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
However, he did not state a specific reason for his resignation.
MORE AIDES LEAVE GOVERNMENT
Ogunwuyi’s departure comes amid reports that several aides of the governor have resigned from the administration over the past two months.
The series of departures has drawn attention to changes within the state government, although no official explanation linking the resignations has been established.
It remains unclear whether Ogunwuyi plans to pursue another political appointment or return to other public or private engagements.
FROM LEGISLATURE TO GOVERNMENT
Before his appointment as chief of staff, Ogunwuyi served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.
His experience in elective office preceded his role as one of the key officials coordinating the governor’s administrative and political engagements.
His resignation marks the end of his tenure in the position as the Makinde administration continues its governance activities in Oyo State.
