Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, has questioned the high cost of luxury fashion, saying she no longer believes in spending excessively on clothes.
Adeleke made the remarks during an appearance on The Fashion Round Table podcast, where she expressed surprise at the amount some people pay for outfits, particularly dresses worn by wedding guests.
She questioned the justification for wedding guest dresses reportedly costing as much as $10,000, noting that she had become more conscious of her spending on fashion.
Recalling her own wedding, Adeleke disclosed that her husband paid $2,000 for her wedding dress, while she paid for the outfits of 13 bridesmaids and between four and five hostesses.
According to her, the total amount spent on the wedding attire was less than $10,000.
The businesswoman said her experience had shaped her attitude towards expensive clothing, adding that she was no longer comfortable paying exorbitant prices for fashion items.
Adeleke also revealed that, as she approaches her 40th birthday next year, she has decided to stop working directly with Nigerian fashion designers.
Her comments have added to conversations surrounding luxury fashion, celebrity spending and the growing cost of outfits for weddings and other social occasions.
