The Federal Government has unveiled a new digital platform aimed at attracting investment into Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries, as it targets a $100 billion contribution to the economy and more than three million jobs by 2030.
The platform, known as D30 or Destination 2030, was launched in Abuja on Tuesday by the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa.
The initiative is designed to provide investors, entrepreneurs and government agencies with reliable information about business opportunities across the country’s tourism and creative sectors.
Platform to Connect Investors With Business Opportunities
Speaking at the launch, Musawa said the lack of reliable and accessible data had made it difficult for investors to assess opportunities, identify infrastructure gaps and determine where their resources could have the greatest impact.
She explained that D30 would bring together research, industry statistics and economic information to support informed investment decisions.
The platform is expected to cover tourism destinations, cultural heritage, creative professionals, infrastructure and government interventions.
According to the minister, the initiative could help investors identify locations for film production facilities, assist state governments in developing tourism destinations and enable entrepreneurs to discover opportunities for business expansion.
FG Targets $100bn Economic Contribution
Musawa said the platform supports the Federal Government’s ambition to generate more than $100 billion in gross domestic product contribution from the tourism and creative economy by 2030, while creating over three million jobs.
She highlighted the potential of Nigeria’s music, film, fashion, literature, visual arts and cultural heritage to generate revenue, attract visitors and support employment.
However, she acknowledged that achieving the targets would require more than the launch of a digital platform. Improved infrastructure, investment, effective institutions and business-friendly policies would also be necessary.
The minister said D30 was intended to help turn Nigeria’s cultural and tourism assets into identifiable investment opportunities rather than serve merely as another government database.
Private Sector Supports Initiative
Cavista Holdings, through its subsidiary, Cavista Technologies, provided private funding and technical support for the development of the platform in partnership with the ministry.
The company’s Executive Director and Vice-President of Government and External Affairs, Olumide Olayomi, said the platform would help businesses and investors assess opportunities and make better decisions about projects in the tourism and creative industries.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Abdulkarim Ozi, also called for collaboration among government agencies, state governments, research institutions and private-sector operators to ensure the platform remains accurate and useful.
Stakeholders are expected to contribute relevant information, while arrangements will be put in place to protect confidential data and make trusted published information accessible.
Success Will Depend on Investment and Job Creation
The government’s ability to achieve the platform’s objectives will depend on the quality of its data, regular updates and the willingness of businesses and investors to use the information to develop projects.
Beyond providing information, D30 is expected to support business expansion, attract new investments and create employment opportunities across Nigeria’s tourism and creative sectors.
Whether it delivers the targeted economic contribution and jobs will ultimately depend on how effectively the platform translates available information into practical investment and development outcomes.
