Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, as preparations intensify for their opening match against Poland at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The team travelled to the Moroccan capital on Tuesday after completing their final training session in Casablanca on Monday evening.
Head coach Akeem Busari and his technical crew are now focused on fine-tuning the squad ahead of Saturday’s Group B encounter, scheduled for October 17 at the Women’s Football Complex in Rabat. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m. local time.

Following their arrival, the players held a light training session as they settled into their new base at the Complexe Sportif Féminin.
The remaining preparations will focus on tactical organisation, team coordination and ensuring the players are physically ready for the demands of the tournament.
Nigeria face a challenging group that also includes Puerto Rico and defending champions Korea DPR. The Flamingos will meet Puerto Rico on October 20 before taking on Korea DPR on October 23.

Captain Harmony Chidi will lead the Nigerian side as they seek to build on their recent regional success and make a strong impression on the global stage.
The Flamingos finished third at the 2022 edition of the competition, which remains Nigeria’s best performance at the U-17 Women’s World Cup. They will be aiming to progress deep into the tournament in Morocco.

With their base established in Rabat, attention now turns to the opening clash against Poland, where Nigeria will hope to begin their campaign with a positive result.
