Former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Architect Aminu Dabo, has resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dabo announced his resignation in a letter dated 7 October 2026, addressed to the APC chairman of Dambatta Gabas Ward in Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State.
The former NPA chief, who served as the APC caucus chairman in Dambatta Local Government Area, said his decision followed careful consideration of personal matters and his future plans.
He confirmed that his resignation letter had been submitted to the appropriate party officials for necessary action.
Despite leaving the party, Dabo expressed appreciation to the APC leadership for the opportunity to serve and contribute to the party’s development.
“I remain grateful for the cordial relationship I enjoyed and appreciative of the experience gained during my time of service,” he said.
Dabo is a prominent political figure in Kano State. He previously aspired to become the state’s governor and also served as Commissioner for Land before his appointment as managing director of the NPA.
Beyond politics, he owns and heads the Aminu Dabo College of Health Sciences and Technology and the Aminu Dabo College of Nursing Sciences, both based in Kano.
Although his resignation comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, Dabo did not disclose any plans to join another political party. He also did not identify any specific political disagreement as the reason for his departure.
His exit adds to the political developments unfolding across the country as parties and their members begin positioning themselves ahead of the next general elections.
