Fresh speculation has emerged over the marriage between Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his wife, Natasha Osawaru, after the Edo State lawmaker introduced herself publicly without using her husband’s surname.
In a video circulating online, Natasha identified herself as “Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru” while addressing members of the Edo State House of Assembly. Her nameplate also displayed the Osawaru surname without Idibia.
The development has attracted attention because Natasha had previously used the Idibia name during legislative proceedings, fuelling questions about whether the change reflects developments in her relationship with the singer.
The latest incident comes amid months of public speculation about the couple’s marriage. In August, Natasha acknowledged that she and 2Baba were experiencing a marital crisis but dismissed claims that they had separated.
Questions about their relationship intensified further after Natasha was absent from the singer’s 51st birthday celebration and album listening party in Lagos in September.
The couple have also faced public scrutiny following reports of disagreements, including an incident at an Abuja nightclub that attracted widespread attention on social media.
Despite the renewed speculation, Natasha’s decision to use her maiden surname does not, by itself, confirm that the marriage has ended.
As of the time of this report, neither Natasha nor 2Baba had publicly announced a separation or divorce in response to the latest development.
For now, the surname change has added another chapter to the public discussion surrounding the couple’s relationship, leaving fans eager to know whether either party will address the speculation.
