Fatai Okoya, a man who identifies himself as the first child of Nigerian billionaire businessman Razaq Akanni Okoya, has made an emotional appeal to his alleged father, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation after more than four decades apart.
In an open letter circulating online, Fatai expressed regret over their prolonged separation, saying the years they had spent apart had brought him considerable pain.
He appealed to the industrialist to put the past behind them and give their relationship another chance.
“Dad, I am truly sorry. Please, find it in your heart to forgive me,” he wrote.
Fatai said he had made several attempts over the years to reconnect with his father, but the estrangement had continued.
He added that, regardless of their differences, he still regarded Okoya as his father and hoped they could rebuild their relationship.
According to him, although the years lost could not be recovered, they could still choose to make the future different by embracing forgiveness and reconciliation.
“Life is precious, time waits for no one, and I do not want us to lose any more opportunities to love, forgive and reconnect,” he stated.
What caused the alleged rift?
Although Fatai referred to past disagreements and years of emotional pain, he did not explain the circumstances that led to the reported estrangement in his letter.
However, during a separate livestream with content creator Yeyekudi, he reportedly claimed that the disagreement stemmed from Okoya’s opposition to his first marriage. The claim has not been independently verified.
Fatai concluded his appeal by expressing his willingness to take the first step towards reconciliation, saying he wanted to restore the bond between father and child.
He also declared that he missed his father and hoped to receive his blessing again.
The letter has generated reactions online, with some social media users expressing sympathy while others questioned the circumstances surrounding the prolonged separation.
However, Fatai’s claim that he is Okoya’s first child has not been independently established. His mother’s identity also remains unconfirmed, and the billionaire businessman had not publicly responded to the appeal at the time of reporting.
