Akanbi Elizabeth, the widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, broke down in tears while paying tribute to her husband at a memorial event in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The emotional moment occurred on Tuesday night at the Jogor Centre, where family members, friends, colleagues and fans gathered to honour the late singer and celebrate his life and musical legacy.
Struggling to complete her speech as grief overwhelmed her, Elizabeth expressed how deeply she would miss her husband and made a heartfelt plea to him not to forget her and their children.
“Toluwanisings, my dear husband. I will forever miss you. Please do not forget your children and me,” she said tearfully.
Gospel Artistes Gather to Honour Late Singer
The tribute night attracted several gospel musicians and entertainment personalities who came together to remember the singer through songs, prayers and tributes.
Among those present were Adeyinka Alaseyori, Esther Igbekele, Laolu Gbenjo, Akintayo Akinwande, Bidemi Olaoba, Peterson Okopi, Sarah Apekeola and Bimbo Oshin.
The artistes took turns honouring their late colleague, reflecting on his life, faith and contribution to gospel music.
Toluwanisings was known for his energetic praise performances and songs that earned him recognition among gospel music audiences.
Singer’s Death Sparks Questions and Family Disagreement
The singer died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, after reportedly slumping. His death has since generated public concern, with allegations surrounding attempts to obtain emergency medical attention and calls from members of his family for an investigation.
His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, had alleged that efforts to secure medical treatment took the singer to several hospitals. However, the circumstances surrounding his death have not been conclusively established in the information publicly available.
A separate disagreement has also emerged over his burial arrangements.
His father, Muniru Adekunle Olayemi, reportedly expressed a preference for his son to be buried at his residence or in Ikirun, Osun State, beside his late mother. Reports indicate that his widow favoured a cemetery or church burial ground instead.
The disagreement has added to the attention surrounding the singer’s death, although the parties’ positions and the circumstances of the dispute should be considered separately from the unresolved questions about his passing.
An Emotional Farewell to a Gospel Musician
Elizabeth’s emotional tribute has resonated with many people, particularly her plea concerning the children she shared with her late husband.
As friends, colleagues and fans continue to mourn Toluwanisings, attention remains focused on his musical legacy, the questions surrounding his death and efforts to resolve the reported disagreement over his final resting place.
