Nigerian media personality Do2dtun has applauded gospel singer and minister Nathaniel Bassey for choosing to prioritise evangelism over financial gain through his popular YouTube platform.

Do2dtun’s reaction followed Bassey’s historic achievement of surpassing one billion views on his official YouTube channel, a milestone that has sparked conversations about the financial opportunities available to the gospel minister.

Taking to social media, Do2dtun praised Bassey’s humility and commitment to using his platform to spread the gospel rather than generate revenue from the Hallelujah Challenge.

According to the media personality, Bassey built the platform with a clear spiritual purpose, despite its enormous potential to generate substantial income.

“He creates a platform to win souls; he does it with the utmost humility,” Do2dtun stated.

He further noted that the gospel minister could have made significant money from the platform but deliberately chose to focus on his spiritual mission.

Do2dtun described the decision as an act of selflessness, particularly given the channel’s remarkable growth and international reach.

Bassey’s YouTube success has been driven significantly by the Hallelujah Challenge, a midnight prayer and worship programme he launched in 2017. The initiative has attracted participants from Nigeria and other parts of the world.

The gospel minister has previously explained that he would not monetise the Hallelujah Challenge because he had not received divine instructions to do so.

However, his decision has generated mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians have commended his commitment to ministry, others believe monetising the platform could provide funds for charitable initiatives, including support for widows, orphans and underserved communities.

Despite the differing opinions, Bassey’s achievement has further highlighted the growing global influence of Nigerian gospel music and online worship programmes.
