Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has said he remains friends with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, despite their political differences.
Soludo maintained that disagreements over political interests and affiliations have not affected the personal relationship between the two prominent politicians.
The governor’s remarks highlight the distinction between personal relationships and political disagreements, stressing that people can hold opposing political views without becoming enemies.
Soludo and Obi have had different political positions, particularly during the 2023 general election and subsequent political developments in Anambra State.
While Obi emerged as the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, Soludo remained a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the platform under which he contested and won the Anambra governorship election.
Their political differences have occasionally generated public debate, especially among supporters of both politicians.
However, Soludo’s latest comments suggest that their disagreements should not be interpreted as a breakdown of their personal relationship.
The governor’s position has also reignited conversations about political tolerance and the need for Nigerian politicians to separate personal relationships from partisan interests.
