The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has received former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar at his palace in Sokoto, urging Nigerians to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence.
Atiku visited the revered monarch on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, shortly after arriving in the state for the presidential campaign flag-off of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The former vice-president was accompanied by members of his political entourage as he paid homage to the Sultan and sought his royal blessings ahead of the party’s campaign activities.
The visit came amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Atiku and the ADC seeking to strengthen their support across the country.
The Sultan’s call for unity underscores the importance of cooperation, mutual understanding and peaceful engagement among Nigerians, particularly as political parties intensify preparations for the next election cycle.
Following the palace visit, Atiku proceeded to the ADC campaign venue along Ilorin Road in Sokoto, where party supporters and political leaders had gathered for the campaign launch.
The visit also highlighted the traditional institution’s continuing role in promoting peace, dialogue and unity across Nigeria, regardless of political affiliations.
