The Oyo State Police Command has paraded three suspects allegedly linked to the killing of a family of six at Oloba Village in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Hammed Akinbami, Ojo Akinbami and Padonu Edward, were presented at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, as investigations into the incident continue.

According to the police, the suspects allegedly attacked the family following a dispute over a damaged mobile phone belonging to one of them.

The command alleged that the suspects invaded the residence of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children, armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a wooden club.

Police said the attackers allegedly stole ₦200,000, a motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine during the incident.

The command further alleged that four members of the family were killed with a wooden club during the attack.

Children allegedly thrown into river

Police said two children who survived the initial assault were allegedly taken to the Osun River, where their hands and legs were tied before they were thrown into the water.

The command said the remains of the woman had been recovered from the river, while efforts were continuing to recover the remains of the other victims.

The police said the suspects were still being investigated to establish their individual roles and determine the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Other suspects paraded

The command also paraded three other suspects — Oluwatobi Akinrinola, Mathew Okunola and Ibrahim Rabiu — over an alleged armed robbery at Wofun Olodo in Ibadan.

Police said a 44-year-old woman, Rukayat Wahab, was killed during the robbery, while mobile phones, wristwatches, $400 and other valuables estimated at ₦3.493 million were allegedly stolen.

An iPhone 7 Plus belonging to one of the victims was reportedly recovered from the suspects, while surviving victims were said to have identified them during an identification parade.

In another case, the command paraded Benjamin Adeniyi, described as an auxiliary nurse, for allegedly practising as a medical doctor without the required qualifications.

Police alleged that Adeniyi had been practising as a doctor since 2022 and operated two hospitals under the name LIFE IS GOOD in Ibadan.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations into the three cases were ongoing, adding that efforts were being made to establish the full circumstances of the alleged crimes and apprehend anyone else connected to them.

The suspects remain allegations at this stage and will be subject to due process of law.
