Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed confidence that residents of the state will turn out in large numbers to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, while representing Tinubu at the commissioning of a section of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway at Tamburawa in Kano State.

Yusuf praised the President for ongoing federal infrastructure projects, describing the highway as an important development that would improve transportation and connectivity across northern Nigeria.

He also argued that several projects undertaken by the Tinubu administration had not received sufficient publicity, despite their potential benefits to Nigerians.

“I have seen many projects the President has executed that have not been publicised. I could go on and on listing the projects and initiatives of this administration,” the governor said.

Yusuf Predicts Strong Support for Tinubu

The Kano governor maintained that residents of the state would support Tinubu’s bid for a second term, adding that he expected the President to receive substantial backing beyond Kano.

Yusuf said voters would support the President to ensure the continuation of his administration’s development projects.

He expressed confidence that the anticipated support would extend across the North-West and other parts of the country.

His declaration comes as political parties and their supporters intensify mobilization ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Umahi Says Economic Reforms Are Yielding Results

Also speaking at the event, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, expressed optimism that Nigeria was beginning to emerge from its period of severe economic hardship.

Umahi said the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration were starting to produce positive results, urging Nigerians to remain supportive of the government.

He cited ongoing road construction projects across Kano and other parts of the North-West as evidence of the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development.

The minister also said the Federal Government was continuing projects inherited from the late President Muhammadu Buhari, including major road networks across northern Nigeria.

Among the projects he highlighted were the Kano Northern Bypass, Kano Ring Road, Kano–Kongolam Road and Zaria–Hunkuyi Road. He also mentioned work on the Sokoto–Zamfara–Zaria Road.

According to Umahi, the Federal Government had completed nearly 400 kilometres of roads in the North-West within three years, while approximately 4,000 kilometres of road projects were ongoing in the region.

He added that the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Highway would benefit not only the North-West but also other parts of the country.

Infrastructure Takes Centre Stage Ahead of 2027

Yusuf’s endorsement highlights the growing importance of infrastructure delivery in political campaigns ahead of the next general election.

With Kano regarded as one of Nigeria’s most electorally significant states, the governor’s promise of substantial support could become an important part of the APC’s re-election campaign.

However, the eventual voting outcome will depend on the decisions of eligible voters when they go to the polls in 2027.
