Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English footballer in 25 years to claim the prestigious individual award.
Kane was announced as the winner at the ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October, following an outstanding season for club and country. He finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé and Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, who placed second and third respectively.
The 33-year-old striker scored 73 goals across all competitions for club and country during the 2025/26 campaign, helping Bayern Munich retain their Bundesliga title and secure a domestic treble.
He also emerged as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer for the third consecutive season and recorded 14 goals in the UEFA Champions League as Bayern reached the semi-finals.
Kane’s triumph ends a 25-year wait for an English winner, with former Liverpool striker Michael Owen the last Englishman to receive the award in 2001.
Argentina legend Lionel Messi finished fifth, while Manchester City midfielder Rodri secured fourth place. Paris Saint-Germain stars Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé occupied sixth and seventh positions respectively.
