Nigerian troops have rescued six people who were abducted by suspected bandits in Kebbi State.
The victims were rescued during a military operation conducted as part of ongoing efforts to tackle banditry and other security threats in the state.
The operation followed intelligence received by security forces regarding the movement and activities of suspected criminals in the area.
Troops moved to the location and engaged the suspects, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victims and flee into the surrounding area.
The rescued victims were subsequently taken to a secure location and are expected to receive necessary medical attention and support before being reunited with their families.
The military said operations against criminal elements in the affected communities would continue, with troops maintaining surveillance and conducting targeted operations to prevent further attacks and abductions.
Security forces also urged residents to provide timely and credible information that could assist ongoing efforts to identify criminal groups and protect vulnerable communities.
The successful rescue adds to recent military operations across the North-West aimed at disrupting the activities of bandits and rescuing people held in captivity.
