Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has come under fire from a presidential aide following his declaration that he is willing to take a bullet for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sani had reaffirmed his support for Tinubu during an interview on Trust TV’s Daily Politics, insisting that he would continue backing the President until the last minute.
Asked whether he was prepared to take a political bullet for Tinubu, the governor responded affirmatively, expressing confidence that his decision would eventually be vindicated.
The governor explained that his support was based on what he described as the benefits Kaduna State had received from the Federal Government, rather than personal favours.
He cited federal appointments for Kaduna indigenes, university projects, road construction and rehabilitation, a proposed light rail system, and support for the state’s mass transportation programme.
Sani also challenged opposition parties to present credible alternatives to Tinubu, arguing that those calling for voters to reject the President should explain what they would offer instead.
However, his comments have sparked criticism, with a presidential aide reportedly taking issue with the governor’s declaration.
The controversy comes as political discussions intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with the economy, insecurity, public welfare and the performance of the Tinubu administration expected to feature prominently in the debate.
Sani has maintained that his position is informed by his longstanding relationship with Tinubu and the development projects he says have benefited Kaduna State.
