Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has congratulated former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha following a Federal High Court judgment that favoured him in the battle for the APC’s Imo West Senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

During a visit to Okorocha at his Abuja residence on Thursday, Ganduje expressed delight over the court’s decision, describing it as a “well-deserved victory” and a vindication of the former governor’s struggle.

Okorocha, in response, appreciated Ganduje for standing by him during a difficult period, describing the former Kano State governor as a true friend and brother.

The visit comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that Okorocha won the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18, 2026. The court ordered the party to submit his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and directed the commission to recognise him as the party’s candidate for the Imo West senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

The judgment also restrained Governor Hope Uzodimma from presenting himself as the APC’s candidate for the seat.

However, the ruling has sparked fresh political tension within the party. The Imo State chapter of the APC has insisted that Uzodimma remains its candidate, stating that its legal department will study the judgment and determine the next course of action.

With the 2027 elections approaching, the dispute could become a major test of the APC’s internal unity in Imo State. Ganduje’s visit has also attracted attention, given the political significance of the personalities involved.

Will the court ruling settle the Imo West senatorial battle, or is another round of political and legal drama on the way?
