Nigeria is celebrating another remarkable achievement on the international stage as Bello Muhammad, a young cyclist from Kebbi State, earns recognition from Guinness World Records for riding the tallest bicycle without assistance.
The extraordinary bicycle measures 2.9 metres (9 feet 5 inches) — far taller than an ordinary bicycle — and Muhammad reportedly built the machine himself before successfully riding it.
According to reports, he achieved the feat on 22 September 2026 in Kebbi State, demonstrating the technical ability, courage and balance required to control such an unusually tall bicycle.
Unlike ordinary cycling, where riders can easily place their feet on the ground, riding a bicycle of this height requires exceptional coordination and confidence. Muhammad also demonstrated that he could mount and dismount the bicycle without assistance.
🇳🇬 KEBBI GOVERNMENT REWARDS HIS ACHIEVEMENT
The achievement was celebrated on 28 October at the Kebbi State Government Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, where Muhammad’s Guinness World Records certificate was presented to the state government.
The government, led by Governor Nasir Idris, congratulated the cyclist for bringing international recognition to Kebbi State.
The state’s Head of Service, Malami Shekare, who represented the governor, also announced a ₦1 million reward in recognition of the accomplishment.
Officials described the feat as an example of the creativity, determination and technical potential of Nigerian youths, while encouraging young people to develop their talents and pursue innovative ideas.
MORE THAN JUST A BICYCLE
Bello Muhammad’s achievement is a reminder that extraordinary talent can emerge from unexpected places. His ability to fabricate and ride such a towering bicycle highlights the value of practical skills, persistence and creative thinking.
At a time when many young Nigerians are searching for opportunities to showcase their abilities, his accomplishment also raises an important question: how many talented young people could achieve remarkable things if they received the right support, training and resources?
From sports and technology to entertainment and entrepreneurship, Nigeria’s young people continue to demonstrate their potential on the global stage.
Congratulations to Bello Muhammad for putting Kebbi State and Nigeria in the international spotlight! 🇳🇬👏
What do you think of this achievement? Should governments and private organisations invest more in young Nigerians with unusual talents and innovative ideas?
