Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has declared his readiness to spend two weeks in Kano State to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bello made the declaration at the Yoruba Political Mobilisation and Empowerment Programme organised by the Leke Abejide Foundation in Kano, where he urged Yoruba people and other non-indigenous communities to rally behind the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former governor challenged the groups to improve on their reported contribution of nearly 500,000 votes to Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. He expressed confidence that the political network of House of Representatives member Leke Abejide could help mobilise as many as two million votes for the President in 2027.
Bello also appealed to voters in the North to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that the President should be allowed to complete two terms in office before power returns to the region.
Defending Tinubu’s performance, he pointed to infrastructure projects, particularly the Kano–Abuja Federal Highway, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to development in the North.
At the same event, Abejide announced that ₦500 million had been earmarked as interest-free loans for women organised into cooperative societies. He also promised support for widows and disclosed plans for empowerment initiatives targeting young people and men.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting non-indigenous communities and ensuring their participation in governance.
With the 2027 elections approaching, Bello’s pledge signals an intensified effort by APC figures to strengthen the party’s support base in Kano, one of Nigeria’s key electoral battlegrounds.
