Former President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina; the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II; and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, are among prominent figures expected to lead discussions on Africa’s economic future at a major leadership conference in Abuja.
The second edition of the Oxford Global Think Tank (OGTT) Leadership Conference is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026, bringing together policymakers, business leaders, financial experts, technology innovators and civil society representatives to explore practical strategies for building a prosperous, resilient and inclusive African economy.
Adesina, who also serves as Executive Chairman of the Global Africa Investment Summit, is expected to deliver the keynote address. Sanusi and the founder of ANAP Foundation, Atedo Peterside, will serve as co-chairs of the conference.
The event, themed “Leadership for a Prosperous Future,” will focus on the leadership decisions, institutional reforms, technological advancements and investment opportunities needed to accelerate economic growth across the continent.
Discussions will also examine the impact of artificial intelligence, shifting global power relations, demographic changes and emerging economic challenges on Africa’s development prospects.
Other prominent participants expected include the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; Executive Vice-President of Afreximbank, Dr Kanayo Awani; Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr Emomotimi Agama; and Flutterwave Chief Executive Officer, Gbenga Agboola.
According to the organisers, deliberations will centre on three key pillars: resilience, innovation and dynamism.
Participants are expected to explore ways to strengthen African institutions, attract investment, mobilise capital, improve productivity and expand economic opportunities for businesses and citizens across the continent.
Artificial intelligence will feature prominently, with plans to unveil an AI report and launch an AI Virtual Centre. An exhibition showcasing emerging technologies and their potential applications in Africa’s development will also form part of the programme.
The organisers said the conference aims to move beyond discussions about Africa’s vast economic potential by identifying practical solutions, policies and partnerships capable of strengthening institutions, expanding productive capacity and promoting inclusive growth.
The conference, founded and hosted by the Oxford Global Think Tank under the leadership of Arunma Oteh, will take place at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception.
The gathering is expected to provide a platform for African leaders and experts to exchange ideas and develop approaches to addressing the continent’s economic challenges while creating opportunities for sustainable prosperity.
