The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested four men suspected of engaging in the illegal distribution of drugs in Gaida, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were apprehended during a covert operation conducted by the NSCDC Counter Terrorism Unit based in Dorayi Babba, Gwale Local Government Area, following intelligence received by the command.

The arrested men were identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, 35; Rabiu Baffa, 25; Aminu Lawan, 35; and Ibrahim Idris, 33. All four are residents of Gaida.

The NSCDC said items recovered during the operation included suspected illicit substances and other drug-related exhibits.

The State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, warned members of the public, particularly young people, against the illegal distribution and misuse of drugs, describing substance abuse as a serious threat to public safety and community wellbeing.

According to the command, the suspects and recovered exhibits will be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano after preliminary investigations for further investigation and appropriate legal action.

The NSCDC also reaffirmed its commitment to working with other security agencies to tackle drug-related offences and urged residents to provide credible information about suspected criminal activities to the authorities.
