The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers dating from 2021 to accept or reject their admissions.
The new deadline is Wednesday, September 30, 2026, replacing the earlier deadline of August 31, 2026.
JAMB said the extension is intended to give affected candidates a final opportunity to indicate whether they wish to accept or reject their outstanding admission offers.
The extension applies to candidates with pending offers under both the regular admission process and the Centralised University and Institution Admission (CUIIA) system.
The Board urged all affected candidates who have not yet taken action to log into their profiles and complete the acceptance or rejection process before the new deadline.
Candidates who accept their outstanding offers will be able to proceed with printing their admission letters. Those who reject the offers will have their admission status changed to “Not Admitted” on their JAMB records.
JAMB also clarified the situation for candidates who have since moved to another institution or programme. Such candidates may accept their previous admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the admission where necessary.
The Board added that candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still have an unaccepted previous admission offer may reject the earlier offer and continue with their current programme.
Candidates who have received admission during the 2026 admission exercise but still have an outstanding offer from an earlier year were also advised not to be concerned. JAMB said rejecting the previous offer would not affect their 2026 admission.
The Board, however, stressed that September 30, 2026, is the final deadline, with no further extension expected.
At the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date that have neither been accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and will remain so in JAMB’s records.
JAMB therefore advised all affected candidates to take action immediately rather than wait until the final day, warning that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period would render the offer invalid.
