A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died.
Orbih reportedly passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The death was announced by the Orbih family in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, who described the announcement as a painful one made in submission to the will of God.
Orbih was a prominent figure in Edo State politics and served as the PDP National Vice Chairman for the South-South region. He was also known for his close political relationship with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The late politician was an influential figure within the PDP and had been involved in several major political developments in Edo State and the South-South region.
Following his death, the family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember them in their prayers as they come to terms with the loss.
Orbih is survived by his wife, Florence Orbih, and his children, Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his siblings and other members of the extended family.
The family said details concerning his funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
His death is expected to attract tributes from political leaders, associates and members of the PDP, particularly across Edo State and the South-South region, where he played a significant role in party politics for many years.
