The application deadline is September 30, 2026.
Applications are open for the 2027 International Renewable Energy Agency Youth Forum, a global platform that brings young people together to contribute to discussions on renewable energy, climate action and the future of sustainable energy systems.
The 2027 edition will be the eighth edition of the forum and will focus on the theme
“Youth Energising the Future: Grids, Storage and Flexibility for Renewable Energy Systems.”
The forum will explore how young innovators and emerging leaders can contribute to modernising electricity grids, expanding energy storage and improving the flexibility of renewable energy systems.
The programme also aims to strengthen youth participation in global energy and climate policy while creating opportunities for participants to develop their skills and connect with governments, businesses, researchers and international organisations.
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is open to young people aged 18 to 35 at the time of the forum from countries around the world.
Applicants should be actively involved in renewable energy, sustainability, innovation or related fields. They may be working on projects, startups, research or advocacy initiatives connected to the energy transition.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in collaborating with other young leaders and partners to develop and scale solutions that can contribute to the global energy transition.
Applications must be submitted in English.
Fully Funded Opportunities
Up to 40 participants will be selected for fully funded participation.
For those selected under the fully funded category, the programme will cover travel, accommodation and visa-related support. There is no application or participation fee.
Additional participants may also be invited to attend on a partially funded or self-funded basis.
The forum is intended to give young participants greater exposure to global energy discussions while helping them build connections and develop practical knowledge around renewable energy systems, financing, innovation and policy.
The IRENA Youth Forum is part of the agency’s broader youth engagement efforts, which seek to give young people a stronger role in shaping the global transition towards sustainable and renewable energy.
