The Nigerian Navy has dismissed a recruitment notice circulating on social media that purportedly announced the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The Navy described the notice as unauthorized and urged prospective applicants to disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unverified sources.
The Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, issued the warning in a statement on Monday, stressing that the circulating notice was not an official publication of the service.
He said all legitimate information concerning Navy recruitment, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would be communicated through the service’s authorized channels.
Folorunsho identified joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng as the official recruitment and enlistment portal, while navy.mil.ng remains the Navy’s official website.
The Navy also warned members of the public not to pay money to individuals, agents or unauthorized platforms claiming to facilitate recruitment.
According to the service, its recruitment exercise is free and no third party has been authorized to recruit applicants or collect fees on its behalf.
The warning comes amid the circulation of various recruitment-related advertisements online, raising concerns that unsuspecting applicants could be targeted by fraudsters seeking money or personal information.
The Navy urged prospective applicants to verify any recruitment announcement through its official communication channels before taking action.
Folorunsho reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to maintaining a transparent recruitment process and providing accurate updates through its authorized platforms.
