Reality TV star Phyna and skit maker Carter Efe stole the spotlight at a celebrity boxing event in Lagos after recording victories in their respective bouts.
Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, faced actress Nkechi Blessing in a four-round female celebrity boxing contest held at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island.
The bout ended in the fourth round after Phyna stopped Nkechi Blessing, securing victory in what was billed as Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing match.
Phyna was rewarded with a ₦50 million cash prize following her victory and subsequently expressed interest in taking her boxing career further.
The reality star also issued a challenge to actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was present at the event. Etinosa accepted the challenge, setting the stage for a possible future bout.
In another highly anticipated encounter, Carter Efe defeated controversial entertainer Speed Darlington after four rounds of action.
Carter Efe maintained control during the contest to secure another victory in the Chaos in the Ring celebrity boxing series. His latest win comes after he previously defeated singer Portable by unanimous decision in May.
The event also featured a professional championship fight, where Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeated Nigeria’s Godday “Zodsolo” Appah to win the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
The boxing spectacle, held in Lagos as part of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations, attracted attention from fans across the entertainment and sporting communities.
