Nigerian businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked controversy after criticising Igbo people who support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Fayose made the remarks in a viral video while discussing the political situation in the South-East and his support for Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

According to him, no Igbo politician in the past three to four decades had achieved what Obi accomplished politically, with the exception of the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

“Any Igbo man wey dey support this APC government is a wicked Igbo man,” Fayose said.

He also questioned why some wealthy Igbo individuals had not supported Obi financially, while criticising those who back the ruling party.

Fayose further referenced the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu and alleged that Obi had faced restrictions during his political activities, using the issues to challenge Igbo supporters of the APC.

He went on to describe Igbo people who do not support Obi as “selfish,” “jealous” and “wicked”.

Despite the criticism directed at Obi’s opponents, Fayose expressed strong confidence in the former Anambra State governor’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.

“With or without you, Obi will win. With or without your money, Peter Obi will win,” he said, predicting that Obi would be declared the winner in January 2027.

Fayose’s comments come amid increasing political activity and debate over alliances ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with politicians and supporters across different parties positioning themselves for the contest.
