American actress Selma Blair, known for her roles in Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions, has been charged with assault following an alleged altercation aboard a flight from Los Angeles to New York.
The 54-year-old actress was detained at John F. Kennedy International Airport after the Delta Air Lines flight landed late on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following reports of a disruptive passenger.
According to court documents and reports from US media, Blair allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another during the incident. She was also accused of assaulting a police officer and a nurse after being taken for medical attention.
Actress Pleads Not Guilty
Blair appeared before a New York state court on Monday, where she pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault relating to the alleged incidents involving the police officer and nurse.
She was released on bail, with her next court hearing scheduled for January 19, 2027.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has also issued a summons concerning alleged assaults aboard the aircraft, according to a federal judicial source cited in reports.
Representative Cites Medical Emergency
A representative for the actress said Blair experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged behaviour.
“Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the representative said.
The statement did not provide further details about the medical emergency.
Delta Air Lines said it had zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour, stressing that the safety of passengers and crew remained its priority.
Blair Has History of In-Flight Incident
The latest incident recalls a 2016 episode in which Blair was removed from an aircraft on a stretcher following an outburst during a flight.
At the time, she apologised publicly, explaining that mixing alcohol with medication had caused her to black out and behave in ways she regretted.
Blair, who has appeared in films including Hellboy and The Sweetest Thing, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 and has spoken publicly about her health journey.
The latest case remains ongoing, and the allegations against the actress have yet to be resolved in court.
