Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has attracted attention after visiting women involved in fufu production in Abuja.
Obi visited members of the Fufu Sellers Association at Sheda and Sheda Galadima in the Kwali area of the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday, 15 October.
During the visit, the women showed him around their cassava-processing facility and explained the challenges they face in their daily business activities.
Videos shared on social media showed Obi inspecting containers of soaked cassava, peeling cassava and assisting the women with handling processed tubers.
The visit generated mixed reactions online. While some Nigerians praised him for engaging directly with local producers and traders, others described the gesture as political publicity ahead of the 2027 general election.
The encounter has also drawn attention to the challenges faced by small-scale food processors, including access to finance, infrastructure and markets.
