Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade is mourning the death of her mother, who passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, following a prolonged illness.
The actress announced the sad news on Monday through an emotional tribute shared on her Instagram page, accompanied by photographs of her late mother.
Expressing her grief, Adunni began her message with the Islamic declaration, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” meaning that humanity belongs to Allah and will ultimately return to Him.
She described her mother’s death as a painful loss and prayed for Allah’s forgiveness, mercy and eternal rest for the deceased.
The actress also disclosed that her mother left behind children, grandchildren, sisters and other loved ones who would continue to cherish her memory.
In her tribute, Adunni prayed that Allah would forgive her mother’s shortcomings, make her grave spacious and filled with light, and grant her Al-Jannah Firdaus.
She equally asked for strength and patience for the family as they navigate the difficult period of mourning.
“Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen,” she wrote.
The actress added that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
Adunni had previously spoken publicly about her mother’s health challenges. In October 2019, she shared photographs of her mother receiving medical care in a hospital, describing her as a fighter who had continued to battle adversity.
